David Vernard Houde, Sr.

Newport, NH - David Vernard Houde, Sr., 67, of Blueberry Ridge Road died on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at his home in Newport.  He was born on June 22, 1948 in Claremont, NH to the late Vernard Allard Houde and Lucille A. (Stone) Houde. 

David grew up in North Charlestown attending Fall Mountain School District.  He was a past member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Claremont, NH.  David worked at Sturm-Ruger for many years and also at Dorr Woolen Mill, White Metal Rolling, and as a corrections officer.  He loved to take his children with him hunting and fishing.

David is predeceased by his parents and a sister, Beverly Ann Houde. 

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Judy (Chamberlain) Houde, children, David Vernard Houde, Jr. and his wife Danielle Moon of Chicago, IL, Dennis Richard Houde and his wife Jennifer of Lebanon, OH, Donald Joseph Houde and his wife Christina Flack of Wetumpka, AL, Debra Ann Chapman and her husband Anthony Koch of Claremont, NH and Tammie Lynn Colby of Claremont, NH, sisters Marsha Houde-Gaudette and Sandy Hess and god-daughter, Linda Simpson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Upper Valley Humane Society, 300 Old Route 10, Enfield, NH 03748.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 12 - 2 P.M. at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St., Newport, NH.  A graveside service will follow in North Newport Cemetery.
