Newport, NH - Douglas David Fournier, 66, died unexpectedly at his home in Newport on May 16, 2016.  He was born on December 20, 1949 in Warwick, MA to Graham and Ruby (Facemire) Fournier. 

 

Doug went through the Newport school system and has lived in the area most of his life.  He owned and operated the Pine Tree Lumber Sawmill in Lempster for almost 40 years.  Doug was hardworking and honest to a fault.  He was a caring and compassionate man with a great sense of humor.  He was a truly gentle soul. 

 

Doug is predeceased by his grandmother, Veda Facemire, granddaughter, Stephanie Cornish, and brother, Alan Corbett. 

 

He is survived by his wife of many years, Linda (Dodge) Fournier of Newport, daughter, Kelly Wessells and her husband Dana of Grantham, NH, stepson, Michael G. Wentzell and his wife Julie of North Newport, NH, stepdaughter, Paula Martell of Newport, NH, sister, Paula Berquist, grandchildren, Ashley Cornish, Cassandra Wentzell, Taryn Wentzell, and Mason Martell, great-grandchildren, Lauren Stark and Nalah Cornish and other members of his extended family.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Mascoma Savings Bank, 303 Main St. Norwich, VT 05055 to support a fund for Doug's great-granddaughters.

 

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 3-5 P.M. at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St. Newport, NH. 

 

A private burial will be held in the North Newport Cemetery. 

 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday June 18, 2016 beginning at 2:00 P.M. at the Onnela Windfarm off of Ridge Road (off Mountain Road) in Lempster, NH.  Refreshments will be served.  Please BYOB, maybe a lawn chair, and/or your old car.  Dress is casual.
