Edward A. Radford

Newport, NH-Edward A. Radford, 81, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont, NH. 

Eddie was born on July 30, 1934, in Hillsboro, NH,  the son of Edward Curtis Radford and Lillian (Gregoire) Radford and was a long time resident of Newport, NH.   He was a Korean War Veteran, serving honorably in the US Navy from 1952 until 1955.

On April 14, 1956, he married Janice Lee Thornton. They had three children and resided on Swan Street in Newport until their retirement in 1991. They traveled the country for 14 years visiting friends and relatives and making many new friends along the way. 

Eddie worked as machinist at Joy Manufacturing, Micro Precision and K&M Machine for over 40 years.  He loved to grill on the barbeque but the family favorites were his Cajun specialties Seafood Gumbo and Étouffée.  He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and most of all the time spent with family and friends.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 60 years Janice, his son Denis and wife Lynda of Centreville, MD, son Ed and wife Sherry of Alpine, CA, daughter Gina of Newport, NH, 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sister Janice Perry and husband Pete of Newport, his brother Robert and wife Mona of Nashua, NH and his brother Melvin and wife Sandy of Newport as well as several nieces and nephews.

The service will be held at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home at 42 Main Street in Newport on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 10:00 am.  The burial will follow at NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway Route 3, Boscawen, NH at 12:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the White River Junction VA Medical Center, Vermont (Voluntary Service), the NH Veterans Cemetery Assoc., Inc. PO Box 626 Concord, NH 03302-0626, or a charity of your choice.
