Ella (Shedd) Flanders

Newport, NH: Ella Flanders, 77, passed away on November 29, 2016 at Summercrest Senior Living Community in Newport after suffering with Alzheimer's for over 2 years.  She was born on November 11, 1939 in Newport, NH to the late Robert and Agnes (Bennett) Shedd.

Ella grew up in Newport and graduated from Towle High School in 1957.  She married Bardon Flanders in 1961 and they had 1 son, Robert Flanders.

Ella worked at Dorr Woolen Mill as a mender for over 40 years until they closed the plant in 2003.  She worked hard, but definitely loved to have fun.  Ella enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage and pitch, with her family and friends, singing karaoke and dancing, and spending time with friends at the Moose Lodge and Foresters.  She was always the life of the party!  She was also a member of the Senior Center in Newport, where she spent many hours with friends in her later years.  She was also known for the wonderful blackberries she would grow and sell.  Ella also enjoyed going to lunch and spending time with her sisters, as well as traveling to Atlanta many times to visit her 3 grandchildren.

Ella was predeceased by her parents, her husband Bardon, her sister Mildred Shedd of Michigan, sister Alice Reney of Manchester, and  her long-time friend and companion, Raymond Cornwell.

She is survived by her son, Robert Flanders and his wife, Joan of Peachtree Corners, GA, her stepson and wife, Bardon and Linda Flanders of Goshen, NH, 3 grandchildren, Natalie, Ben, and Audrey Flanders of Peachtree Corners, GA, 4 sisters, Shirley Lariviere of Claremont, NH, Madeline Jackson of Claremont, NH, Beverly Shepard and her husband Mark of Newport, NH, and Ina Rozakat and her husband Buffy of Newport, NH and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 13, 2017 at 10 AM at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St. Newport, NH.  Burial will immediately follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Warner, NH.
