Ernest H Bridge, Jr.

Ernest H. Bridge Jr., Unity, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2017. Ernie was born June 7, 1935 in Keene, NH to Ernest H. Bridge, Sr. and Helen Foley Bridge of Spofford. He was married to Beverly Holmes Bridge for 53 years before she passed in 2012. He leaves two children, Viki Bridge and her husband Joel Lussier of Newport and Chris Bridge and his wife Kim of Bellevue, NE as well as three grandchildren, Jessie Lussier of Chico, CA, and Robin Bridge and John Bridge of Bellevue, NE.

Ernie grew up in Spofford, attended Keene high school, and served in the US Air Force. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1962 and from Wayne State University with a Master of Arts in sculpture. He was recruited out of college by General Motors Styling, Detroit, where he worked on clay models of new cars. Later, he was vice president of Castle Toy Company. Since 1980, Ernie was self employed as a designer, developer, and builder of prototype toys and electronic devices for clients such as Hasbro and Coleco. He also worked part time at Home Depot in Claremont.

Ernie loved New Hampshire and fulfilled his dream of moving back in 1983. He loved walking in the woods and sitting on his deck enjoying the view. He served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives for one term and was active in the NH GOP. He also served on the Unity Conservation Commision.

Ernie will be missed by his extended family of sisters, nieces, and nephews of the Holmes family from Grantham. Special thanks goes out to the staff at the Visiting Nurse Association for their excellent care.

There will be a memorial gathering at Grantham Methodist Church at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 13, 2017.
