Newport, NH-Ethel L. (Booker) Redlein, 82, of Meadow Road, Newport, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016 surrounded by her family.

She was born in West Point, GA on March 15, 1933 the daughter of Emory and Mary (Cantrell) Booker.  She was educated in the West Point School System and lived in GA for 18 years.

Ethel moved to Long Island, NY in 1953 and was married to Burton Redlein in 1951.  Ethel lived in NY until her husband’s passing in 1993.  While in NY she worked for a few years in retail sales.  She was an active member of the Sayville Congregational UCC where she taught Sunday School and also worked in the church nursery.  She moved to NH in 1996 and lived in Sunapee and Newport.  Ethel was always up to travelling “wherever”. 

Members of her family surviving include a daughter and her husband, Evelyn L. and James Anderson of Newport, NH; two sons and their wives, Mark A. and Sharren Redlein of Miami Lakes, FL and Donald J. and Sue Redlein of Kingston, NY; a sister, I. Ann Schankles of Huntsville, AL; eight grandchildren, Matthew Balentine of NY, Michelle Redlein of VT, Dustin Redlein of VT, Cortney Saindon of FL, Anna Mulvey-Anderson, Jeff Anderson, Chris Anderson and Bradley Anderson all of Newport, NH; three great grandchildren, Ruby Saindon, Leah Redlein and Benjamin Redlein.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at the Newton- Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Newport, NH.  A memorial service will also be held on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Sayville Congregational UCC, 131 Middle Road, Sayville, NY.
