Claremont, NH: Floyd "Froggy" Currier, 86, died on November 6, 2016 at his home. He was born on November 20, 1929 in Grantham, NH to the late Fred L. and Josephine (Spaulding) Currier.
Floyd grew up in Grantham and has lived in the area most of his life. He worked at Cote & Reney Lumber, Sportwelt Shoe Shop and Sturm-Ruger in Newport for many years. For 22 years , Floyd and his wife, Peggy, spent summers at Baxter Lake Recreation Area in Rochester, NH where he worked as the groundskeeper, and wintered in Saint Cloud, Fl. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and he was active in a local softball league. He was a lifelong baseball fan but his true passion was horseshoes. He was a horseshoe champion in Florida with Peggy as Tournament Director of the league. Froggy was a workhorse right until the end. He loved his family and will be greatly missed.
Floyd was predeceased by his parents, a grandson, Ryan Ferris, brothers, Densmore, James, Clyde, Stanley, and Fred Currier, Jr., and sisters, Myrtle Cote, Evelyn Reeves, Carolyn Haselton, and Lorraine Willis.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Margaret "Peggy" (Pye) Currier, son, Rick Currier of Newport, daughters, Gail Currier, and Gwen Sheehan and her husband Bill of Claremont, NH, sister, Shirley Jennings of Goshen, NH, grandchildren, Corey Sheehan and his wife Jennifer of Hillsborough, NH, Nicole Bellivance and her husband Justin, Brandon Currier of Newport, NH and Fort Meyers FL., great-grandchildren, Willem, Tucker, and Tate Sheehan all of Hillsborough, NH, many Nieces and Nephews, and his beloved dog, Sophie.
A graveside service will be held at Grantham Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11 A.M. with a luncheon to follow at the Newport Senior Center.
