Gloria L. (Pevine) Morrill

Newport, NH-Gloria L.(Pevine) Morrill, 85, died Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Woodlawn Health Center where she had resided for the past 2 1/2 years.  Gloria lived on Pinnacle Road in Newport for over 30 years.

She was born on March 19, 1931 the daughter of Napoleon L. and Grace B.(LaPlante) Pevine. She was a native and lifelong resident of Newport. She graduated from Towle High School in 1949.   

Gloria worked at Brampton Woolen Mill, Dorr Woolen Mill, Joy Manufacturing and at Newport Schools and Kearsarge Regional Elementary School in New London.  Gloria was a pioneer, as the ski industry boomed in Sunapee, NH. As Mt. Sunapee became established, she raced slalom. She instructed for the Sunapee Ski School and was a life long member of the Mt. Sunapee Ski Club.

Her husband, Clarence R Morrill, died in 1968.  She was also predeceased by sisters, Janice Mahan, Irene Pillsbury and Beverly Flewelling.  Her family members include her daughter, Deborah Bates of Newport, NH; Travis and Christine Bates of Medfield, Mass, Tyler and Lizzy Bates of Traverse City, Michigan, three sisters, Norma Jean Pevine, Geraldine Page, Sharon Otterson and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Newport, NH on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 11:00-12:00 and a celebration of life will begin at noon.  Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
