Croydon, NH: John J. Kowalczyk, 84, passed away at New London Hospital after a period of declining health. He was born on December 4, 1931 in Claremont, NH to the late Jacob and Mary (Madeja) Kowalczyk. He grew up in Claremont and has lived in Croydon since 1970.
John won a scholarship to attend a radio school and operated the 1st radio station in Claremont out of his house. He enjoyed everything having to do with radios and TVs. He was a HAM radio operator and started a CB radio club in Croydon, The Yankee 5 Waters. He liked woodworking making many pieces of furniture for his house and his family. He liked to go fishing and be in the outdoors. He took pride in his property and taking care of the lawn. John was a family man and a wonderful husband to his wife of 48 years, Shirley A. (Linton) Kowalczyk.
John was predeceased by his parents, son, Michael Fowler, granddaughter, Fallon Heath, and brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Kowalczyk of Croydon, son, John Kowalczyk of Indianapolis, Indiana, daughters, Mary Pickering of Claremont, NH and Kimberly Fowler of Croydon, NH, brother-in-law, Maurice Reney, and sister-in-law, Joyce Jordan.
Memorial donations may be made in John's name to the Croydon Historical Society.
