Newport, NH-Kenneth W. Currier, Sr., 92, of Park Street, died Friday, July 7, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.


He was born in Maidstone, VT on November 13, 1924 the son of Amos and Bernice (Woodward) Currier.


​He spent his early years in Newbury, NH and then lived most of his life in Newport. Ken served on the Newport Ambulance in the early 60's, worked at Britton Lumber in Hartland, VT where he met his wife, Barbara, and drove a wrecker for Chase and Avery before becoming the service manager. Later he worked for Sturm Ruger and then at Pine Tree Castings.


​He served in the US Army from 1941-1946 in Europe and Germany through the Nuremberg Trials. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW and was a past member of the Foresters Club and the Moose. Ken and Barbara loved to go dancing every Saturday night and he enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles.


​He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara L. (Walker) Currier of Newport, NH; a son and his wife, Kenneth W. and Amy Currier of Newport, NH; seven daughters, Sandra and her husband, Keith Blain of Lebanon, NH, Debra Harris of Claremont, NH, Virginia and her husband, William Springer of Reading, VT, Donna and her husband, Dale Smith of Laconia, NH, Peggy and her husband, Leonard Brown, Sr. of Newport, NH, Vivian and her husband, Victor Stork, Sr., of Newport, NH, Annette Currier of Brandon, FL; a sister, Carolyn Gonyea of St. Petersburg, FL; many grand and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.


​He is predeceased by siblings, Raymond, Sr., Howard, Stanley, Amos, Jr., Marjorie and Ruth.


​A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 11:30 A.M.  in Pine Grove Cemetery, Newport, NH.
