Lois C. (Webb) Ritchie

July 21, 1931 ~ May 14, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Sunapee, NH -- Lois C. (Bell)(Webb) Ritchie, 85, of Sunapee, NH died Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Elm Wood Center, Claremont, after a short illness.

She was born July 21, 1931 in Newport, NH, the daughter of Roy and Emily (Wilson) Bell, and spent most of her life in Sunapee and Newbury, NH.  She worked in the hospitality business.  Trained in "Silver Tray Service," she worked in the White Mountains during the summers and in Florida during the winters. She married Richard E. Webb on October 28, 1951.  Once their children were grown, they operated the Pines Restaurant for many successful years.

Lois enjoyed people and never met a stranger.  She drew many people into her clan.  We always had a huge celebration at every holiday, with a table of delicious food, family and friends gathered around, enjoying her meals and hospitality in a loving atmosphere.

She was an expert tailor.  It was a family tradition for her to design and sew every bridal gown that our extended family needed.  She also painted, did knitting, and enjoyed needlework.  She was truly an artisan.

She and Warren P. Ritchie were wed on September 18, 1983.  They enjoyed their retirement together, becoming ham radio operators, monitoring many area race events together.

She is predeceased by her first husband, Richard E. Webb; her second husband, Warren P. Ritchie; her parents, Roy and Emily Bell; her sister, Jean Putonen; her two brothers-in-law, Albert "Kip" Putonen and Charles Sorento; and her nephew, Paul. A Putonen.

Members of her surviving family include her sister-in-law, and best friend, Patricia W. Sorento of Sunapee; her children, Toni J. Webb of Newport, Patti-Jo "Jodee" Webb of Sunapee, Richard D. Webb and his wife, Susan F. Webb of New London; her grandchildren, Jamie W. Webb of Bradford, TJ Bressette and her partner, Ray DeCesare of Newport, Richard E. Webb II and his partner, Jennifer Howe; three great-grandchildren, Linkin P. Payette, Isaac Buteau, Silas Buteau; her favorite niece, Sally J. Putonen; and many nephews, and cousins.

Private services will be held.
