Croydon, NH - Marie A. (Sherman) Newcomb, 79, of Pine Hill Road, died suddenly at her home on Sunday, June 5, 2016.

Meme was born at her home in Grantham, NH on October 26, 1936 the daughter of Henry R. and Cora (Reney) Sherman.  She attended Grantham schools and graduated from Towle High School in 1954.  She was a rural route mail carrier, driving and managing several routes for 33 years, was the Treasurer for the Town of Croydon for 16 years and also drove the Croydon school bus for many years.  Meme and her husband owned and operated Rocky Bound Farm where they raised and milked Holstein cattle for 35 years.  She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star Aurora Chapter #33, a founding member of the Croydon Ladies Auxiliary and helped establish the Croydon Volunteer Fire Department, as well as a resident of and founding member of the Rocky Bound Pond Association and an active member of the Croydon Village Church.

Meme's door was always open, there was something tasty on the stove, a warm fire going in the woodstove, and she was always ready to play a board game or cards.  She had many interests including ice skating, broom hockey, boating, fishing, gardening, and making homemade doughnuts.  She was an avid equestrian, loved watching the Red Sox and was always eager to volunteer or lend a helping hand.  Most of all, Meme enjoyed spending quality time with the family and friends she deeply loved.  On June 4, 2016 she and others finished a 10 year book writing project, writing the still to be published "Rocky Bound Pond Past and Present".

Meme was predeceased by two sisters, Edna Truell and Joyce Barton.

Members of her surviving family include her husband of 60 years, Harry P. Newcomb of Croydon, NH; two sons and their wives, Phil and Mindy Newcomb of North Newport, NH and Ray and Donna Newcomb of Loudon, NH; four grandchildren, Malory and her husband, Jeremy Tetreault, Meredith and her husband, Tyler Wilcox, Sean Newcomb and Craig Newcomb; a sister, Jennett Willis of Croydon, NH; a cousin and his wife, Clifford and Sally Barber; and many nieces and nephews.

An open house celebration of Meme's life will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at the Croydon Fire Station from 1:00 - 4:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Rocky Bound Pond Assoication, and mailed to Adam Florczak, 19 Lorraine St., Hudson, NH 03051.
