Michael Lawrence Thornton

Barre, VT - Michael Lawrence Thornton, 59, of South Main Street passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, January 11th, 2017. His struggles here on Earth are over and he is on his journey home to an everlasting peace.

Born in Claremont, NH on May 1st, 1957, Mike grew up in Newport, NH and lived the better part of his life in and around the surrounding area. He was the oldest son of Nockie and Dottie Thornton. Mike worked as a painter and carpenter for local contractors for several years before moving to Barre, VT.
 
The most important thing to Mike was his family, which he deeply loved.
 
Michael was predeceased by his parents, Norris "Nockie" Thornton and Dorothy "Dottie" (Leland) Thornton; and his brother, Eddie Thornton.
 
Surviving family members include his wife and best friend of over forty-four years, Ginny (Pearson) Thornton; sons, Christian Thornton and his wife Karen, Michael Thornton and his wife Maggie, and Jason Thornton; daughter, Nikki Roach and her husband Chris; brother, Tom Thornton and his wife Christa, sister-in-law, Wanda Thornton and seven grandchildren, Mikey, Noah, Hayley, Kieley, Chris Jr., Ty, and Mikayla.
 
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home will be assisting the family with arrangements.
