Patrick Zullo

Newport, NH: Patrick Zullo, 91, passed away on November 25, 2017 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH after a brief illness.  He was born on February 8, 1926 in Claremont, NH to the late Antonio and Conjetta (Marro) Zullo. 

Patrick spent his early years in Claremont, graduating from St. Mary's High School with the class of 1943.  He then served his country during WWII in the United States Marine Corp.  After his service, he returned to the Newport area where he would spend the rest of his life. 

Patrick began his career as a meat cutter in the area and at Corbin Park before owning and operating his own grocery store, Shop Rite.  He was a former president of the NH Grocer's Association and past director of Newport Citizen's Bank.  He served on the Newport planning board and the planning committee for the new Newport High School.  He was a longtime member of St. Patrick Parish and member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was active in the American Legion and member of the Newport Drum and Bugle.  Patrick was proud of his yard and would spend many hours there.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf.  Patrick loved being with family and doing the cooking at cookouts.

Patrick was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Rocco, Larky and Fred, sisters, Lena, Teresa, Mary, and Louisa, and sons-in-law, Terry Robertson and David Heath.

Surviving family members include his wife of 70 years, Beverly (Perry) Zullo, daughters, Sandra Audet and husband, James of Bow, NH, Adrianne Robertson of Newport, NH, and Patricia Heath and partner,  Frank Fratzel of Newport, NH, brothers, Larry and Pete Zullo, sisters, Rose Bly and Dolly Curtis, grandchildren, Krista, Nicole, Tara, Craig, Courtney, Terry, and Matthew, 12 great-grandchildren and many other extended family members. 

Calling hours will be held on Thursday November 30, 2017 from 5 to 8 PM at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St. in Newport.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday December 1, 2017 at 10 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Newport with Fr. Michael Monette, celebrant.  A burial with military honors will immediately follow the service at St. Patrick Cemetery.
