Raymond F. Simoneau

Newport, NH - Raymond F Simoneau, 76, of Pearl Street died on March 27, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on January 6th, 1941, in Plymouth, NH Raymond spent his early years in Newport, NH with his parents, Roland and Irene (Chambers) Simoneau. After school, Raymond worked at the Vermont Foundry for fifteen years before becoming an assembler at Kearsage Reel and retiring in 2006. He enjoyed gardening and being a member of the Knights of Pythias. He was always happiest being with his children and grandchildren, but nothing could make him smile more than his wife, Janet (Prescott). He had known Janet since they were both five years old and their love was continuously growing to the very end.

Raymond was predeceased by his parents and by a granddaughter, Amanda. 

Surviving family includes his wife of (51) years, Janet; sons, Michael Simoneau and his significant other Wendy of Newport, and Paul Simoneau and his girlfriend Nan Stone of Newport; daughter, Bonnie Basher and her husband Mike Basher of AZ; brother, Wayne Simoneau and his wife Pat of Newport; eleven grandchildren, Thomas A., Keenen, Alexis, David, Stephanie, Angela, Heidi, Alex, Lea, Christina, and Lawrence; and three great-grandchildren, T.J., Kenny, and Jordan.

A memorial service will be held on Friday March 31, 2017 at 10 AM at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St., Newport with Rev. Steve Hammond officiating with burial to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.  There will be a luncheon after the burial at the First Baptist Church of Newport at 85 N Main St.
