Sunapee, NH: Ruth L. (Bradford) Leavitt passed away at her home on March 23, 2017 surrounded by family and friends by her side.

Born and raised in Sutton, NH, she received her education in Sutton and New London, NH.

She had a love of animals from an early age and had her very own horse named "Timmy" who she was most proud of. For many years she was a licensed bird rehabilitator, highly skilled in the care of sick or injured birds. Her specialty was raptors and birds of prey. She had extensive knowledge of each species. Her love for nature and ecology was immense.

Ruth was employed for many years as an operating room technician and became a trusted assistant to doctors Robert Maxfield and Volker Bradley. She also worked in the emergency room at Newport Hospital for many years.

Married to William (Bill) Leavitt for more than fifty years, they enjoyed many camping trips in various parks in New England, especially the Maine coast.

She enjoyed the study of the Civil War and visited various battlefields. She was a direct descendant of William Bradford of the Mayflower.

She was predeceased by her parents Carlton Bradford and Beatrice (Frost) Bradford, and a sister, Corine  French.

She is survived by her brother Carlton Bradford, Jr. of New London, NH.

A service for Ruth will be held on April 29, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall 252 Rte. 11, Wilmot, NH 03287.  All are welcome to attend the service.
