Barbara (Brodeur) Huneven

Newport, NH: Barbara B. Huneven, 90, died on December 10, 2018 at Woodlawn Care Center after a period of declining health. 

 

She was born on April 21, 1928 in Meriden, CT to the late Edmond and Alice (Rouleau) Brodeur.  She graduated from Meriden High School with the class of 1946.  

 

Barbara married Robert Huneven on September 11, 1948 at Holy Angel's Church in South Meriden, CT.  They moved to Newport in 1952, buying the Josiah Wakefield Estate in North Newport.  They lived there very happily for 36 years, until 1988 when they sold the farm and moved to East Unity, their last home.  Robert predeceased her on Christmas Day in 2005.

 

Barbara worked locally at the Chevrolet Dealership, then at J.H. Cummings MG-Honda Dealership, and finally at the NH State Highway Office in Enfield for 12 years. 

 

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

 

She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years in 2005, grandson, David Nutting, and infant granddaughter, Melinda Huneven.  .  

 

Surviving family include her 4 children, Judy Jenkins of North Carolina, Peter Huneven of Croydon, Robert Huneven of Charlestown, and Jane Collins of Charlestown, grandchildren, Elizabeth Merrill, Jeannette Campbell, Shelley Huneven, Marshall Huneven, Carmen Franks, Robert Emery, and Raymond Emery,  great-grandchildren, Danielle Baker, Megan Baker, Ezra Merrill, Hunter and Landen LaClair, Alex and Andrew Emery, Zackery Surrette, Skyler Campbell, and Willow Franks.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St., Newport, NH.  Burial will immediately follow at North Newport Cemetery.
