Carolyn Lois (Currier) Gonyea

Carolyn Lois Gonyea, 84, of Pinellas Park, Fl. passed away the morning of August 13, 2017. Born February 19,1933 in Newport, NH, to Amos and Bernice Currier.  She was a 1950 Graduate of Stevens High School, Claremont, NH. Carol was married for 60 years to her beloved Paul Gonyea who passed away 5 years ago. Together they raised 4 sons and owned and operated Gonyea’s Deli on Center Street in Wallingford, CT.  

Carolyn was pre-deceased by her husband Paul, son Andrew, grandson Michael, granddaughter Jennifer, daughter-in-law Charlene, sisters Ruth Currier and Marjorie Swenson, and brothers Amos “Junior” Currier, Stanley Currier, Raymond Currier, Kenneth Currier, and Howard Currier.  She is survived by her sister-in-laws Barbara Currier of Newport, NH, Ann (Gonyea) Titus, Allenstown, NH, Ella Currier, Springfield, VT, and brother-in-law Donald Swenson, Newport, NH, sons Warren Gonyea, Vernon, CT, Rodney Gonyea & wife Tracey, Bonita Springs, FL, John Gonyea Lebanon, NH, and her beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.  

Carolyn worked in the banking industry, first with First Citizens National Bank and then Sugar River Savings Bank.  Upon retirement in 1996, she and Paul headed south to enjoy their retirement in Pinellas Park, FL, where they were both active in the Sacred Heart Church and the charitable works of the Knights of Columbus (she was a member of the Columbiettes).  

Burial will take place on Saturday September 2nd at 12:00 at the Elkins Cemetery, Elkins, NH.    

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to Suncoast Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL  33771.
