Welcome to the memorial page for

Kenneth Wayne Flint

February 7, 1937 ~ May 12, 2017 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Kenneth Wayne Flint passed away May 12, 2017 in Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay, OR.  His children and friends were by his side.

Kenny was born Feb. 7, 1937 in Newport, NH to C. Kenneth and Esther Kendall Flint.  He grew up in Newport, graduating in the Towle High School class of 1955.  Following graduation he worked in First National stores in Newport and Windsor, VT before becoming a machinist at Unicraft.

In the early 70’s he moved his family to Leadville, CO where he worked in the Climax mine, eventually becoming an electrician there.  When the mine closed and work in the area was hard to find, he headed to the west coast.  He settled in Port Orford, OR where, until his retirement, he operated the crane that lifted commercial fishing boats in and out of the water.

Like his father, Kenny was happiest while fishing and hunting.  His idea of the ideal vacation was to trek in to a remote lake or pond, pitch a tent and spend the daylight hours with a fishing pole in his hand.  He was a master at tying flies and enjoyed painting pictures of the wild life he was so familiar with.  He loved entertaining any audience with his mine adventure stories.

He was predeceased by his parents.  He will be truly missed by his survivors, his daughter Shari Slone of Grand Junction, CO, his son Kevin Flint of Carbondale, CO, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren, brothers Kendall Flint and his wife Greta of Sandston, VA and David Flint and wife Bonnie of Sunapee, sisters Martha Swain and Andrea Lapins and husband Harry of Newport and Rebecca Saunders and fiancé Tom Cheney of Sunapee and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held July 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Eastman Cemetery in Sunapee, Rev. Donna Leslie officiating.
