Newport, NH: Lou Dean Franz died on March 29, 2019 at the New London Hospital.
She was born in Dothan, AL on June 29, 1929 and was brought up by her parents, Charles Lee and Mabel Jacobs. She lived in Tampa, FL, Silver Springs, MD, and White River Junction, VT because her father was the VA administrator and worked in those states' VAs. While in WRJ, VT, she met her husband, Warren Lester Franz, and lived in Newport, NH where he was the pathologist for the area hospitals. He died in 2013.
She leaves behind her children, Deborah (Tom) Dombroski, Charles Franz, Melinda Franz, and Peter Franz. Her youngest daughter, Patricia Franz, died in 1970 at the age of 10. She has a brother, Robert (Sylvia) Flipse, of Labelle, FL and a cousin, Harry (Helga) Williamson of Sarasota, FL. Her grandchildren, Patrick (Heather) Dombroski, Erin Pickering, Erika Poirier (Ryan), and Jakob Franz. Her great-grandchildren, Katrina Pickering, Arianna Pickering, and Nate Dombroski, step great-grandchildren, Sydney and Lucas Bellimer, and several nieces and nephews.
She was active in the Newport community budget committee, Newport Library Arts Center as a trustee, and helped students in the Towle School. She worked for Pam Gay as a travel agent and traveled the world many times. She loved to read and do the New York Times puzzles, loved giving dinner parties, played bridge, had a women's club of her best friends. She will be missed.
