Lempster, NH: Louis Richard "Dick" Lounder, Sr. passed away on November 17,  2017 after a long illness, surrounded by family and the love of his life, Louise.

Dick was born in Keene, NH, on December 3,1936. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1957 as an engineer at the Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. He also worked on landing gear at the Pease Air Force Base in Portsmouth, NH. Dick worked at Quarry Marble in Proctor, VT before working at Carris Reel in Rutland, VT. He then went on to work at Winchester NH Tannery, where he learned the business of tanning hides. He then worked for E.C.Floor Sanding which inspired him to start his own company, Dick Lounder & Sons Floor Sanding.

Dick enjoyed keeping busy with work and with bowling, raising turkeys, fishing, hunting, cribbage, playing cards, especially poker, and watching western movies. He loved spending time with family.

He is survived by his long-time partner, Louise Richards; his daughter, Molly B. Berry and husband Deane of Keene, NH; his son, Wayne M. Lounder and wife Amy of Keene, NH; brothers, Earl Lounder and wife Sharon of Rutland, VT,  Everett Lounder and wife Peggy of Swanzey, NH, Guy Lounder and wife Rita of Gilsum, NH, and Clem Lounder and wife Marie of Gilsum, NH; sisters, Roseanne Bolles and husband Walter of Pennsylvania, and Theresa Lounder of Gilsum, NH; stepchildren, Theresa Lounder of Lempster, Anita Sturtevant of Lempster, and Naomi Edds of Texas; grandchildren, Lisa Pratt and husband Ronnie of Alstead, NH, James Ayotte and wife Stephanie of Lempster, NH, Dylan Lounder of Keene, NH, Keith Lounder and Ciarra Leavitt of Newport, NH, Jason Lounder and wife Lacee of Newport, NH, Kristina Lounder of Keene, NH, Miranda Edds of Texas, Keri Wheeler of Barrington, NH, Joshua Sturtevant of Lempster, NH, and Jessica Seale of Lempster, NH;  great-grandchildren, Noah Pratt, Harley Pratt and Cheyanne Pratt,  Cameron, Aubree and Kylee Sturtevant; several nieces and nephews, including his favorite niece, Lorretta Simoneau of Keene, NH.

Dick was predeceased by his mother, Alice "Eva" (Sprague) and her husband, Stanley Danforth, father, Nathaniel "Sam" and his wife, Genevieve Lounder; his first wife, Barbara Robinson; sons, Raymond H. Champney and Louis Richard Lounder, Jr.; brother, Matthew Lounder; and sister, Karen Paju.

Calling hours will be held at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home from 4 to 6 PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2017.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 10 AM at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home.  Burial will immediately follow at the East Lempster Cemetery.
