Newport, NH: Robert Earl Brown, 91, died on Jan. 23, 2019 at The Jack Byrne Hospice House in Hanover, NH.
Bob was born on May 12, 1927 in Everett, MA to Beatrice and George Brown. He was raised on Maple Farm in Bradford, NH and earned his diploma from Simonds Free High School in Warner in 1945. He enlisted in the US Navy just before his high school graduation and was aboard a ship heading for the Pacific when the war ended. Bob spent several years as a carpenter helping to decommission naval ships.
Bob returned to NH and met and married Hazel Connell. Bob and Hazel spent 69 years together, raising three daughters, living, working and enjoying their lives together. He worked at Joy Manufacturing for 33 years. Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He liked deer hunting and fishing. Bob and Hazel enjoyed traveling in their retirement, visiting with family and friends. One summer they did a cross continental motor home trip with Bob's sister and her husband. Another summer they drove to and from Alaska to visit grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife, Hazel and his daughters Donna, Sandy and Robin and their families. He has six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St Patrick Church Memorial Fund or to the Jack Byrne Center.
Calling hours will take place at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home on Monday, January 28, 2019 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Newport, NH. A reception will take place at Assumption Hall after the mass.
Burial with military honors will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 11 AM at St. Patrick Cemetery in Newport, NH, where both he and his beloved wife, Hazel, will be laid to rest.
