Steven R. Thomas

Newport, NH: Steven R. Thomas, 66, passed away unexpectedly on December 22, 2018 at Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont. He was born on May 15, 1952 to the late Melvin R. and Winifred E. (Sanderson) Thomas.  Steve grew up in Plymouth, MA and then moved to Sunapee to raise his family and finally to Newport where he and his wife, Donnalee, purchased a home and spent the last 13 years.

Steve was a Master of Plumbing and Heating and owned and operated his own business, CAST Plumbing and Heating.  Steve loved flying and became a solo pilot at the age of 16.  He enjoyed a good time and raced jeeps, cars, and other vehicles.  He was a regular at Grazi's in Newport where he would get his coffee.  He liked the ocean, the mountains, and taking pictures of lightning.  Steve was a bit of a joker and liked to play card and dice games.  He was a great cook, especially his chili and fudge.

Steve was a family man with a heart of gold.  He would do anything for anyone and was always willing to lend a hand.  He adored his daughters and couldn't get enough of his grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Steve was predeceased by his parents.  Surviving family include his loving wife of 39 years, Donnalee (Howard) Thomas of Newport, daughters, Cristen Courtemanche and her husband, Odie of Lebanon, NH, Alyssa Fox and her husband, Timothy, of Marathon, NY, and Sheena Thomas and her husband, Peter Olsen, of Woodstock, VT, brother, Robert M. Thomas of Plymouth, MA, sister, Carole Laliberte of Plymouth, MA, grandchildren, Kileigh, Madison, Mollie, Mason, Olivia, Samantha, and many extended family members and friends.  

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 10 am at Lake Sunapee United Methodist Church in Sunapee, NH.
