Amber Benson Obituary

Croydon, NH: Amber R. Benson, 73, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on October 28, 2023 at the Jack Byrne Hospice Center in Lebanon, NH after a brief illness, acute myeloid leukemia. She was born on October 7, 1950 in Newport, NH to the late Arnold and Pearl (Cote) Campbell.

Amber spent her entire life in the Newport/Croydon area.  She was affectionately called, Sunshine, Bambi, Gigi, Mom, Gram, and Frosty by her friends and family.  She married Richard "Dickie" Benson in 1970 sharing 56 years together, being married for almost 53.  Amber was a hard worker, working at Dorr Woolen before spending more than 30 years working at Ruger.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing puzzles and making blankets, and liked going to yard sales.  Amber loved her family and spending time with them.  She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She will be dearly missed.

Amber left a lasting impression on folks and would always light up a room as she entered it.  She would never complain.  She would always say, "It's fine.  I'm fine.  Everything's fine."

Amber was predeceased by her parents; aunt, Margie Apolczer; uncle, Harold "Hal" Campbell; and father in law, Benny Benson.

Surviving family members include her husband of almost 53 years, Richard "Dickie" Benson of Croydon; daughter, Renee St. Germain of Croydon; daughter, Jayme Benson and her husband Matthew McHugh of Grantham; brothers, Gary Campbell and his wife, Nancy, Bruce Campbell and his wife, Cora, and Scott Campbell and his wife, Betty; sister, Taffy Kramer and her husband, Bob; brother in law, Kevin Benson and his wife, Cheryl; grandchildren, Colton Benson and his girlfriend, Kelsey, and Dustyn St. German and his girlfriend, Jordyn Kemp; great-grandchildren, Xzavier and Pyper; and many other extended family members.

A special thank you from the family to Kelsey, the 3K unit at DHMC, and the Jack Byrne Center for all of the compassionate care and support.
