Barry Edward Wade, Sr of Croydon passed away at his home on November 13th at the age of 78.
He was born in Fairfield, CT on March 8, 1943 son of the late Ray & Florence (Smith).
He grew up in Fairfield but spent most of his summers at the family cottage on Rocky Bound Pond in Croydon. At age 16, he met the love of his life, Catherine Sherwood. They married August 25, 1962 and settled in Fairfield where they raised their 3 children. Barry worked at the family dairy, had a paper delivery business, as well as a rubbish removal business. In 1971, the family moved to Springfield, NH. They later relocated to Newport where they owned & operated Sunapee Street Lanes Bowling alley, Refuge Contractors, as well as several apartment buildings.
Barry was fortunate to retire at a young age and found himself the owner of a motor home which he & Cathy travelled cross country in for many years until finally settling upon Big Pine Key in Florida for their final winter destination. They were lucky to meet more lifetime friends during that time.
Barry enjoyed fishing, boating, entertaining, and most of all spending time with family & friends. He was also an avid Nascar & Indy fan, attending the Indianapolis 500 along with many Nascar races.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Cathy of 57 years, sons Barry Jr. & wife Amy (Ronan), James & Paula (Priess), daughter Kellie (Wade) & Dale Bevilacqua, grandsons Michael & Amanda (Colburne) of Fountain Inn, SC, Harrison & Jenna (Kantor) of Waterbury, VT, Devin & Chantel (Hogsed) currently stationed in San Antonio,TX, Noah of Newport, Dylan Gardner of Newport, granddaughters Jasmine (Gardner) & Dan Spear of Springfield, Jordan Gardner & Mike Mahoney of Newport, great granddaughters Addison & Olivia Spear, Elsie, Aria, great grandsons Sonny, Owen Mahoney, sister in law Jean Lesko & Matt Wedlock of Venice, FL, 2 nephews & 4 nieces, and many close friends that considered him a father.
A celebration of life will be held at the Croydon Fire Station December 11th at 2:00 pm
