Betsey (Abbott) Drinkard

Betsey R. Drinkard, 94, of Jensen Beach, Florida died January 29, 2023 surrounded by her loving daughters and a close friend. Betsey was born on March 2, 1928 in Weymouth, MA, a daughter of Marshall and Francetta (MacCormack) Abbott. Betsey grew up the youngest of six children and greatly enjoyed her childhood at their beloved home on Ralph Talbot Street in Weymouth, MA. Throughout Betsey’s life summers were enjoyed at two of her favorite places Crescent Beach, Mattapoisett and at the family farm in North Berwick, ME.

At the age of 20, Betsey married Robert A. Raymond and they raised a family of four together. They started their life together in Amherst, NH and then settled at the cherished family home on Daniels Road in Plainfield, NH. Betsey had a long career at Dartmouth National Bank where she met many of her lifelong friends. After their children had grown, Betsey and Robert spent precious time together going on cruises and entertaining. Betsey’s true love, Robert passed away due to health complications on May 12, 1987 at 63 years old.

Betsey was drawn to Florida and took up residence at Venture III on Hutchinson Island where she met her late husband, Paul Drinkard. They shared many years together in their beautiful home overlooking the Indian River, traveling in their RV, and spending time with Paul’s family in Petoskey, MI.

She is predeceased by her parents, siblings, first husband Robert, and late husband Paul.

Surviving family members include her children: Andrew Raymond of MA, Francetta Raymond of NH, Lee (Nate) Carey of NH, and Michael Raymond of VT, grandchildren: Brooke Raymond of MA, Nicole (Corey) Nourse of VT, Erin (Josh) Wessells of NH, and Allison Raymond of VT, and great-grandchildren: Loki Nourse, Izabella Nourse, Desmond Nourse, Maddison West, Henry Wessells, and Zatanna Levakis.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Congregational Church of Croydon, Croydon NH on March 11th , 2023 at 1pm.
