Betsy Jane Wiggins

Betsy Jane Wiggins was born on January 18, 1931 in Sunapee, NH to Burt Wiggins, Sr. and Aline (Messer) Wiggins. She was one of 11 children.

Betsy graduated from Sunapee High School in 1949. Upon graduating from Keene Teacher’s College, Betsy accepted her first teaching position at Vilas High School in Alstead, NH.  She taught Home Economics and Biology there for seven years.  Betsy went on to receive her Master of Science from the University of Connecticut.  In 1961, she moved to Framingham, Mass where she taught in the Framingham School District for 32 years! Betsy held positions as classroom teacher and then Department Director for Home Economics.  During this time she was also an adjunct faculty at Framingham State College.  Betsy retired in 1992 after 40 years of service in education.

Following retirement, Betsy lived in Sunapee, NH and Vero Beach, Florida.  Betsy loved to play Bridge, golf, tutor students at Thompson Elementary School in Vero Beach, garden, swim at Dewey Beach in Sunapee and was a member of the Community Church Choir in Vero.

Betsy was predeceased by her parents and siblings: Willis Wiggins, Alice Densmore, Linda Morse, Jim 'Shorty' O'Connor, Burt Wiggins, Jr., and Pamela Quinlan; and her husband Henry Kirchdorfer.

Surviving family includes her siblings: Flora Johnson, Ellen Austin, Sarah Jedrzynski, and Martin Wiggins; and many nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at a later date.
