Newport, NH - Cynthia Ann (Prew) MacCreighton, 70, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, in hospice care at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care.
Born in New London, NH Cindy was the eldest daughter of Claude “Bud” Prew, Jr. and Janet (Hodges) Keyser. A proud graduate of Kearsarge Regional High School, North Sutton, NH in 1974, she built a life rooted in hard work, devotion to family, and quiet strength.
Cindy began her career as an LNA, caring for others with the same compassion that would define her entire life. As her children grew, she worked as a beloved lunch lady, brightening the days of children and many local students. She later joined the family home repair and building company before retiring as a CNC machinist at Sturm, Ruger & Co. where her dedication and skill earned her numerous merit awards.
She found joy in life’s simple and spirited moments-playing basketball with her son and the neighborhood kids, bowling with friends and family, and diving into video games of all kinds, especially Minecraft with her grandchildren. She was an avid sports fan who never missed a chance to cheer on the Boston Red Sox. Cindy loved quilting, painting and collecting garden gnomes, spending time with her beloved kitties, and most of all, being surrounded by her family.
She is predeceased by her father-in-law, Theron “Sam” MacCreighton and her brother, Dale Prew. Cindy is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Danny MacCreighton; her mother-in-law, Charis MacCreighton; her son Daniel MacCreighton and his wife, Angela MacCreighton; her daughter, Victoria Turcot and her husband, Zachary Turcot; her cherished grandchildren, Samantha, Claire, and Daniel MacCreighton, Jr. and Allyssa and Nikolas Turcot; her sisters, Wendy Naughton and Rebecca Partridge; and many nieces and nephews who will carry her memory forward.
Friends may call at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Newport, NH on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 4:00-6:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sullivan County Humane Society, P.O. Box 111, Claremont, NH 03743.
Cindy will be remembered for her strength, her laughter, her competitive nature, and the fierce love she had for her family. The world feels quieter without her, but her love and lessons will remain with us always.
