Croydon, NH: Donald P. Bourassa, 83, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving wife by his side on December 10, 2024. He was born on April 16, 1941 in Berlin, NH to the late Joseph and Lucille (Hamel) Bourassa.
Donald grew up in Hartford, CT and moved to Southwick, MA at a young age. It was there that he met his future wife, Gloria Syriac. They were married after high school and shared more than 63 years together. Donald served in the US Navy stationed aboard a submarine during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Donald and Gloria moved to New Hampshire where they raised their family. Donald worked as a carpenter building many homes in Newport, Grantham, and Croydon.
Donald was a man of many talents and interests. He loved to read and he wrote and published several books. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and enjoyed riding his Harley. He will be dearly missed by his family.
Donald was predeceased by his parents and by his sisters, Claire Doe and Diane Green. Surviving family members include his wife of 63 years, Gloria (Syriac) Bourassa of Croydon; children, Michael Bourassa and his wife, Gail of Croydon, Michelle McCalvey and her husband, Harry of Pittsfield, NH, and Aimee Ruel and her husband, Robert of Greer, SC; grandchildren, Matthew Bourassa, Melissa Bourassa, Racheal Boyer, Nicole Del Signore, and Joelle Del Signore; and great-grandchildren, Mason, Bryson, Mikayla, Aubrie, and Maeva.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 21, 2024 at 11 AM at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Newport, NH.
