Dorothy Bell Colby

Dorothy Bell Colby, 93, passed away at Woodlawn Care Center in Newport, N.H. on March 12, 2025.

Born Dorothy Mae Bell on April 22, 1931. She was the daughter of Clayton and Ruby Bell. She graduated from Towle High School in 1949.

She married Carroll Curtis Colby in October of 1949, who died in 1965 at an early age.

She moved to North Carolina in 2005. She was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Wendell, N.C. In her building where she resided she enjoyed going down to the community room for birthday parties, holiday parties, bingo and her prayer meetings.

Previously she had worked at Hartford Element and Pine Tree Castings.

Dorothy is predeceased by her parents, her brother, Gordon and his wife, Jackie Bell. And her brother, Jon Bell of Newport, N.H

She leaves behind her daughter, Linda (Richard) Warner of Wendell, N.C., and her son, David (Peggy) Colby of Sunapee, N.H. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was her happiest when she was with her family.

We want to give our thanks to Woodlawn Care Center and Hospice for the care and compassion during Dorothy’s time there.

A graveside service at Pine Grove Cemetery, Newport, NH, will be on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. for family and friends. After the service, everyone is invited back to David’s house in Sunapee, NH.
