Dorothy (Clark) Saccamano Obituary
Dorothy (Clark) Saccamano was born in Brooklyn, NY to Arthur and Ella (Casey) on April 30, 1932. They moved to Ozone Park, NY in 1935. Dorothy attended local schools P.S. 62, P.S. 108, and John Adams High School. She worked at various jobs until she joined the Army WAAC (Women's Auxiliary Army Corp) in 1954. She served two years, one year in Germany, then was honorably discharged in 1956.
Dorothy married Joseph Saccamano in 1959 at St. Mary Gate of Heaven Church in Ozone Park. They had four children: Neil, Donna, Mae and Mark. While raising her children, Dorothy worked as a civil servant in several locations throughout NY. She was predeceased by her husband of 25 years as well as her daughter Donna. Dorothy retired from the Drug Enforcement Administration in 1994 while stationed at JFK Airport in NY. After retirement Dorothy moved many times living in Curacao, NA, Virginia, Lorton, Manassas and Gainesville, finally to Croydon, NH.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Neil and Kathy (Kirsch) Saccamano, Mae and David Ramatowski, and Mark and Rose (Lavery) Saccamano; also her four grandchildren: Julia, Olivia, Kaitlyn and Joseph; and ten nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her four siblings, John, Arthur, Helen (Nelson), and Mildred (Messina).
Dorothy would tell you her greatest pleasure came from her children and grandchildren; their accomplishments gave her the greatest joy. Her kids would tell you of her strength and love. She was there for anyone that needed her and had a big heart. She loved race tracks and casinos, winning big a few times and shaking with excitement.
Her smile and laughter was infectious. She would tell anyone that said "You're lucky" that it was because of her funny Irish hat that she wore or because she was yelling "Slainte" (an Irish prayer) at the machines. She had the rare talent of making anyone she came into contact with smile. Our mother will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held for her on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Newport, NH.
