Dorothy "Dotty" C. Collins,100 years of Newport, NH, passed away Saturday May 2, 2026 surrounded by family and close friends at Summercrest Assisted Living in Newport, NH.
Dotty was born in Newport, NH on October 10, 1925 to her parents Goldena (Ross) Conrey Hurlbut and Percy L. Conrey.
She was a graduate of Towle High School in 1943, and of Peter Bent Brigham Hospital School of Nursing as a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps in 1946.
She was married to James B. Collins for 62 years and a life-long resident of Newport.
Dotty was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Newport, NH for 87 years up until her passing.
She worked at the Newport Hospital for 38 years and was the recipient of the Newport Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Citizens Award and Outstanding Career Woman of NH Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs. Dotty was a member of many organizations including: Association of Operating Room Nurses of NH Board of Directors, American Nurses Association, American Society Central Service Personnel, NH Hospital Association, NH Hospitals Purchasing Management Association, Newport Area Home Health Agency, Richard's Free Library volunteer, Newport Garden Club, Home Demonstration Group, Newport Hospital Auxillary, and Newport Service Organization.
She was predeceased by James (Pick). She is survived by her sister Judy Rogers and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service at 1:30 PM on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at North Newport Cemetery, Newport, NH.
