Gerald (Gary) Wayne Callum went home to join his parents and brother on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at the age of 76.
Gary was born on September 30, 1949 at the old Newport Hospital in the town he was born and raised.
The lifelong ‘Tiger’ attended Towle High School before joining the workforce, where he was a loyal Patten’s employee for over 30 years. His proudest professional achievement came in 2001, when he and his beloved wife of 58 years, Ann, opened their Little Ledges Antique Shop.
Gary loved to go to yard sales, gardening and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He and Ann traveled frequently, most often to the Amish Country or to Old Orchard Beach in Maine. But, his favorite thing to do was spending time with his family, where he was always found smiling and laughing with the people he loved most.
Gary is survived by his wife Ann; his children, Lance Callum and his wife, Diane, and Wendy; sister, Diane Charles and her husband, Bill; and six grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as every life he positively touched.
He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
A Celebration of Gary’s life will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the Moose Lodge, 18 Golf Club Road in Newport from 1 PM to 5 PM. Please bring a dish to share at it is a pot luck.
