Gerald "Gerry" Green Obituary

Gerald "Gerry" Green
10-27-1939 - 2-13-2025

Gerry, of Lempster NH, passed away at the age of 85 after a long battle with cancer. He was the son of Milton Green and Eleanor Irish of Ashby, MA. He graduated from Ashby's Lyman School in 1957. He and Pat, his wife of 64 years, resided in Ashby until they built their home in Lempster in 2000.

Gerry was a mechanic all his life. He grew up tinkering and improving anything he could get his hands on. He worked at the local Ford dealer in Fitchburg, MA, later as a truck and heavy equipment mechanic, and finally retired from GE in Fitchburg, MA doing machine maintenance.

Gerry had a lifelong passion for motorcycles. In the early 1960s, he was the co-owner of The Little Green Cycle Shop in Townsend, MA. His love of riding fueled his competitive spirit, leading him to participate in Enduros for many years as an 'A' rider, where he won many events. He was invited to and was a proud member of the RAMS Motorcycle Club until his death. Beyond racing, Gerry enjoyed restoring classic British motorcycles—amassing a collection that reflected his deep appreciation for their craftsmanship and history.

Coming from a long line of thrifty Yankees, he had a knack for repurposing anything and everything—much to the dismay of anyone who ever tried to throw something away in his presence. He swore up and down that he knew exactly where everything was… until, of course, he actually needed to find it. Then, it was a treasure hunt with no map, just a lot of muttering and a few choice words!

He is survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Tracy Bragdon of Wilmington, NC, and granddaughter Janine Bragdon of Amherst, MA. He is predeceased by his brother William, who died on 10/10/2013.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Lempster Firefighters Association (PO Box 76, Lempster, NH, 03605) or to your local hospice.

There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ashby at a later date.
