Gertrude Edith (Lassila) Henault

Newport, NH - Gertrude Edith Lassila Henault, 97, passed away at home on June 19, 2020.

Gertrude was born on May 12, 1923 in Newport, NH to Andrew (Antti) and Alli Lassila.

She was a graduate of Towle High School in 1943.  After graduation, she worked at a local bakery, restaurant, and a mica mine doing bookkeeping.

She married Raymond Henault on November 29, 1947.  They both worked at several jobs and saved their money to build a house with no loans! They lived their entire lives in Newport.

After retiring, Gert and Raymond spent many years volunteering and White River Jct. VA and Tilton Home for Veterans. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary for many years .

Her family was the most important thing to her and she loved the family gatherings at holidays and birthdays.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Henault, her parents, and brother, Walter Lassila.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Taylor and husband, Terrance, grandson, Tobias A. Taylor and partner Brenda, granddaughter, Amanda R. Taylor, great-grandson, Colby A. Taylor, great-granddaughter, Juliauna M. Taylor, many nieces and nephews, and a special dog, Bubba, who she loved very much.

A private family service will be held.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Lake Sunapee VNA and Hospice Care.  She enjoyed all of you.
