Irene R. (Marcotte) Newell

Newport, NH: Irene R. Newell passed away peacefully on December 21, 2022 at Summercrest Assisted Living in Newport, NH where she lived for two years.

Irene was born on November 12, 1928 in Manchester to Wilfred O. and Marie Anna (Champagne) Marcotte in Manchester, NH. She lived most of her life in Manchester. During part of her childhood she lived at St. Peter's Orphanage. She was a graduate of Manchester West High School and a majorette.

She married the love of her life Guy J. Newell, her high school sweetheart, in June 1950 and enjoyed over 70 years of marriage. She and her husband worked hard and purchased Fallon's Furniture in the 1960's where she worked side by side with her husband until they retired. She spent most of her retired years traveling and living in Florida. She loved deep sea fishing. They had a summer home on Lake Sunapee where she enjoyed summer with family and friends into her 90's.

Irene leaves behind two sister, Mrs. Cecile Fortin of Auburn, NH, and Mrs. Violette Bouley of Cape Coral, FL. Two sons, Guy J. Newell III of Newport, NH, and Stephen and Linda Newell of Newbury, NH, and their two children, Jennifer Guilmette and her husband Christopher and Stephen M. Newell, Jr. and his wife Amanda, and one great grandchild, Haven Andrew Grant Newell.

A Catholic mass will be celebrated at a later date and a celebration of life. She will be buried next to her husband at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, 15 Constitution Dr., Bedford, NH 03110.
