James (Jim) McDonald Obituary

Lempster, NH: James (Jim) Fredrick McDonald passed away peacefully at home in Lempster, NH surrounded by his family and loving wife Linda McDonald. He was born in Framingham, Massachusetts and grew up in Ashland, MA. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1967 and Hartford School of Accounting. He moved to Connecticut and married Linda in May of 1969.

He worked in accounting for various CT businesses where he and Linda raised their two children Michele and Jim in Manchester, CT. James was a member of the Washington Social Club in Manchester and the Moose Lodge in Rockville CT. He started his own small business in carpet installation which he later moved up to NH.

He and Linda relocated to Croydon, NH and then Lempster, NH to be close to their four granddaughters: Anna, Mia, Brynja and Ailsa. Upon retirement Jim took on a part time job which brought him great joy. He loved delivering meals to local residents for Meals on Wheels.

Jim was also a recent member of the Newport Moose Lodge and Veterans Club and the Forester’s Club where he enjoyed many card games with friends and singing karaoke. He loved dancing the night away, but his favorite place to be was in the woods. He was a long time hunter and loved nothing more than a walk in the woods. He made many memories with his brother-in- law, Tom, hunting up North.

He is predeceased by his father and mother, Wendell and Lillian McDonald, and his brothers Michael and Stephen McDonald, and his sister and brother-in-law Mary and David Sciapucci, his niece Denise Cleveland, and his mother and father-in-law, Anna and Alfred Saulnier.

Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years Linda, his daughter and son-in-law Michele and George Caccavaro III, his son and daughter-in-law Jim and Christian McDonald, his four granddaughters: Anna and Mia Caccavaro and Brynja and Ailsa McDonald, his sister and brother-in-law Brenda and Tom Cleveland, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Phylis and Joe Horvith, and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Newport Senior Center’s Meals on Wheels program.
