Newport, NH: Jean H Wright passed away on November 19, 2020, almost a week after her 90th birthday. She was born on November 13, 1930 in Croydon, NH to the late Wilfred and Olive (Barton) Gonyo.
Jean grew up in Croydon/North Newport and raised her family in the Newport area before moving to Illinois for many years with her husband Dan. They returned to Newport after their retirement to be closer to family. Jean worked at Dorr Woolen and in the Newport shoe shops. She was a wonderful cook and delighted the residents at Woodlawn Nursing Home by working there as a cook for many years.
Jean enjoyed ceramics, collecting knick knacks, and hosting family meals. She was stubborn, family oriented, and loved fiercely. She loved her animals, especially black cats and German Shepherds, she was without a doubt, the biggest Red Sox fan there was and loved Ted Williams (whom she said she would marry if given the chance)!! She enjoyed sitting outside, walking her dogs, spending time with family, and listening to ball games.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, Dan Wright, Jr., her parents, and a brother, Robert Gonyo.
Surviving family members include her son, Dan Wright and his wife, Vicky of Newport, daughter, Gloria Taylor of Dover, NH, brothers, Roger Gonyo and his wife, Betty of Newport, and Wilfred Gonyo and his wife, Mary of Sunapee, sister, Joan Santti of Unity, grandchildren, Michelle Roth and her husband, William, of Sunapee, Steven Wright of Newport, and Derek Taylor and his wife, Leah, of Dover; great-grandchildren, John and Johanna Roth, and Desmond and Aislyn Taylor; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
