Jeffrey W. Ash, 63, passed on July 2, 2025 at New London Hospital after a period of failing health. Jeffrey was born Jan. 11, 1962 in Newport, NH to the late Everett and Helen (Johnson) Ash. He attended Newport Schools and was a lifelong resident of Newport.
In the 1980s he met Laura Couitt, the love of his life. The two were later married on Sept. 18, 2004. Now they are reunited.
Jeffrey was a hard worker. He started by delivering eggs door to door very early in life when he was around 12. He also worked at Dartmouth Woolen, Dorr Woolen, Jim Benson Construction, Rymes and Stone Vault.
He enjoyed good 'ole Rock n' Roll music, attending concerts, and going to Nascar races, Patriots and Red Sox games with friends. On Sundays you could find him in front of the TV watching whatever sport was in season. He also loved fishing, hunting, playing cards, horseshoes, pool, spending time with his grandkids, and family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Surviving family members are his son Bryann Couitt (Kassandrah), his 4 brothers: Francis "Sam" Ash, Albert "Tyke" Ash (Nancy), Scott Ash, and Kim "Whitey" Ash, his grandchildren Isabella, Hannah, Nicolas and Drew Couitt, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his loving wife Laura, his mother Helen Whittaker, step father Henry Whittaker, father Everett Ash, and his nephew Brandon Ash.
A special thanks to the LSVNA for all of their wonderful care.
Calling hours will be held at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street in Newport, on Aug. 3, 2025 from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm, followed by a graveside service at Pine Grove Cemetery on Sunapee Street in Newport, and then a gathering at Newport Vet's Club, 118 John Stark Highway, to celebrate Jeffrey's life.
