Judith "Judy" A. (Scott) Johnson

October 2, 1942 ~ July 1, 2023 (age 80) 80 Years Old

CROYDON, NH – Judith “ Judy” A.  Johnson passed away peacefully at her cherished farmhouse on the hill, with her beloved family by her side, on Saturday, July 1st, 2023, at the age of 80, after a long courageous battle with multiple myeloma and end stage renal disease.

Judy was born in Concord, MA on October 2, 1942 to William D. and Grace L. Scott. Previously, Judy resided in Marlborough MA, where she graduated from Marlborough High School in 1962.

She was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Marlborough, singing in the Church Choir. She was in The Girls Scouts of America, also in the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, earning her Grand Cross of Color.

Judy and her husband, Ronald “Ronnie” were married on December 21, 1963.  Being the wife of a firefighter, she would later be involved in the Marlborough Firefighter’s Ladies Auxiliary.

She worked at Richer Elementary School for many years, later retiring from Raytheon in Sudbury, MA, after nearly 20 years.

In 2006, they would retire to their home in Croydon, NH where they were welcomed into a community she would refer to as her extended family.  She became a devoted member of the First Congregational Church of Croydon, where she served as a Deacon, sang with the Croydon Singers and could always be found helping at the church functions from Dot’s Luncheon to the Monday Morning Group, as well as volunteering at the Newport Food Pantry.

Her passion in life was helping others, no matter what was needed, whether a friendly visit or running errands for someone in need. Because of her selflessness and nurturing personality, lifelong friendships were easy for her to form. Their home in Croydon was a true gift and was her little piece of heaven.  She loved to enjoy nature’s beauty around her, spending hours watching the bluebirds and hummingbirds. She cherished her family and the times spent together, along with her precious and faithful dog Penny, watching her grandchildren grow and savoring in each of their achievements, always encouraging them to do what they loved.  Judy had such a special way of bringing joy, love and inspiration to all who knew her.

Judy was predeceased by her parents and her sister Kathy Duffy.  She leaves behind her husband Ronald of almost 60 years, her daughter, Patricia Peck and her husband Ricky of Barre, MA, her son Michael Johnson and his wife Paula of Newport, NH.  Four grandchildren, Trevor and Lindsay Peck of Barre, MA and Quin and Reece Johnson of Newport, NH, her sister Carol MacEwen and brothers David Scott and W. Joseph Scott.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the many healthcare providers at Dartmouth Hospital including Dr. Bengtson and her Oncology Team, the nurses and technicians at Fresenius Kidney Care in Lebanon, Dr. Amanda Dostaler and the Newport Health Center and to the incredible team at Lake Sunapee VNA & Hospice for their support and the tender loving care they provided her.

From the bottom of our hearts, we extend our thanks to all the wonderful friends who have loved and supported Judy and her family throughout good times and bad.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you please donate in Judy’s name, to the First Congregational Church of Croydon, the Croydon Fire Dept, to your local VNA/Hospice agency or to the Fresenius Kidney Care at any of their locations.

There will be no calling hours, a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 15th at 11am at the Croydon Flat Church, 29 Croydon Turnpike Rd, Croydon, with graveside services directly following at Croydon Flat Cemetery on Camel Hump Rd.
