Newport, NH – After a long journey with cancer, Kathleen “Kat” Barton Barrell died peacefully at her parents’ home on November 11, 2021 in Newport, NH. She was 51 years old.
Kat was born on March 16, 1970 in Claremont, NH to Douglas and Nancy Barton. She graduated from Newport High School in 1988 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Boston University in 1992.
Marrying Christopher Barrell in 1997, they made their home in Newport, one that Chris built and finished himself. In 2002, they welcomed their one child into the world, Brett Douglas Barrell.
Kat had a varied career in marketing communications, serving LaValley Building Supply, PC Connection, Conference Management Associates, Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital, Fluent Inc. and Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Always wanting to help people who were vulnerable, scared or unsure, her time at Dartmouth-Hitchcock was the highlight of her career. She often lovingly joked that she “bled green.”
The most notable achievement from her personal life was the launch of her business Call of the Wild Energy Therapy, LLC. She used her intuitive skills to communicate with animals, focusing mostly on horses, and conduct healing energy sessions to relieve their stress. Eventually, she decided to open her services more broadly than just for animals and changed her business to the Blue Sky Shoppe, LLC, from which she offered card readings and astrology readings, always with the goal of offering hope and inspiration.
Surviving immediate family members include her husband Chris Barrell, Newport, NH, son Brett Barrell, Newport, NH, and her parents Douglas and Nancy (Niemi) Barton, Newport, NH. They will forever love and miss Kat and her sparkling zest for live.
A private Celebration of Life gathering will be scheduled at a time that is best for the family.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Full Circle Farm Therapeutic Horsemanship Program at 80 Edgell Road in Newport, NH 03773.
