Kenneth “Kenny” Ripley, known affectionately as “Rip” to many, passed away at home on July 14, 2025, at the age of 57. Born on February 22, 1968, in Concord, N.H, Kenny was the son of Richard Ripley and the late Theresa (Pierce) Ripley.
A 1986 graduate of Newport High School, Kenny went on to earn a degree from Ohio Technical College. He brought his knowledge and drive to every job he took on, working at Grappone Automotive Group, St. Johnsbury Trucking Co., and Goodrich Oil Company before founding his own business, Ripley Construction, in 2002. His work ethic was unmatched—if Kenny said he’d be there, you could count on it. Whether managing a project or hopping into his dump truck or loader to help a friend with a driveway, a septic system, or just moving dirt, Kenny brought his trademark grit and pride to every job.
He had a way of keeping things light, even when things didn’t go as planned. Whether the plan hit a snag or things went sideways, Kenny would grin and say, “What could possibly go wrong?” or shrug with a smirk on his face, “You’ll have that on a big job.” Those who knew him will hear those words forever in his deep, booming voice.
Kenny wasn’t just known for his hard work—he was known for his deep loyalty, his love and commitment to his family, and the countless friendships he built over the years. He valued his circle, and if you were in it, you knew it. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and camping with friends. Kenny appreciated the simple things: good friends, a job well done, a cold Bud Lite, and rewatching his favorite movie, Smokey and the Bandit.
Kenny was predeceased by his mother, Theresa Ripley; sisters Lillian Paire and Nancy Erickson- Frank. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (King) Ripley of Newport; his father, Richard Ripley of Newport; and his siblings: Brenda Byers and her husband, Butch, of Newport; Marilyn Catsam and her husband, Charlie, of Lakeland, FL; Richard Ripley Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Winchendon, Mass.; and Lisa Hampe and her husband, Ed, of Newmarket, N.H. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who adored him, including David Byers, Jodie Olsen, Joshua Ripley, Heather Leal, Kayla Hampe, Jay Paire, Tracey Paire, Shawn Erickson and Scott Erickson.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 27, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Newport, N.H. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 28, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 32 Beech Street, Newport, N.H., with interment immediately following at North Newport Cemetery on Oak Street. All are welcome to gather afterward at 292 Maple Street in Newport, to share memories, stories and laughter.
