Newport NH- Laura Lee (Champney) Ash, 55, passed away at the Jack Byrne Hospice Center May 12th after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born June 9, 1967 in Hanover, NH. She was a life-long resident of Newport, NH.
She loved spending time with family and friends. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She enjoyed lying in the sun with a good book and her dog Lucy at her feet, playing cribbage with family and friends, gardening, shopping and going to Hampton Beach with the girls. Laura had such a special way of bringing joy and love to all who knew her. Laura's contagious laugh, endless love and compassion for others was inspiring. She was very dedicated to family and her work.
Laura is predeceased by her mother Peggy Lockwood. Surviving family members are her husband Jeffrey Ash, her son Bryann Couitt and his wife Kassie of Canaan, NH. Her three grandchildren, Isabella, Hannah, and Nicolas Couitt. Her father Kenny Lockwood of Newport, NH. Her sisters, Cindy and her husband Brad LeBlanc of Unity, NH, Bertha Smith of Guild, NH, Jean and her husband Dan Emery of Wyoming. Her brothers Don Champney, Jr. of Newport, NH, Chris Champney of Newport, NH, Doug and his wife Phyllis Champney of Newbury, NH, and Jay and his wife Cassandra Lockwood of Enfield, NH, and so many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. And her loving dog Lucy. She was very much loved and will be missed by so many.
There will be a celebration of life at the Newport VFW, 118 John Stark Highway, on Saturday June 10th from 12-3.
