Newport, NH: Marjorie Pierce Clark Scott, 73, died peacefully after a long illness on January 4, 2022, just one day shy of her 74th birthday.
She was born in Claremont, NH on January 5, 1948 to the late Bryan Pierce and Ruth Borden Forsyth. Marjorie was very intelligent and worked hard to get her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood and a Nursing License. She worked as a nurse and in hospice care for many years before retiring due to health issues. She homeschooled 2 of her grandchildren for a couple of years. She then worked at Wal-Mart for 17 years, the last of those as a door greeter before finally retiring. Marjorie and partner Rodney West were 2 peas in a pod. They did everything together from junking, finding wire to strip for copper, traveling, antiquing, their biggest accomplishment and what they were most proud of was raising all of their grandchildren. After they had retired they still had a lot of work ahead of them and they gave every ounce of themselves to their grandchildren. Marjorie was always the glue that stuck the family all together with Rodney's support. Marjorie was always to the point, full of humor, fun loving and honest.
She was the board game master of the family and would play every weekend with her grandchildren.
Her favorites were mancala and monopoly.
If you played monopoly you best have planned to play by the rules to the T and be ready to pass your bedtime for some competition.
She loved drawing for the grandchildren. Making special songs for the grandchildren and the great grandchildren with their names in them and she would sing to them. She loved to write her own stories and even illustrate them.
She would read pieces from the Bible to teach the grandchildren about her faith and why she believed but would always stress to them the importance for them to decide themselves if they wanted to believe too.
She loved history and the discovery Channel.
Marjorie was that in home tutor and support for school, life and a friend you could always talk to and ask anything without fear of being judged of how ridiculous you thought the question may be. She would take her time to teach you thoroughly. It was important to make sure you were comfortable before making an inquiry because you would be there until you fully understood!
She looked forward to and enjoyed watching all the new kid movies with the grandchildren that would come out but there was a special catch, she would wait for them to be out of the theater. We were always so excited, it was always so special to wait, and it basically became a tradition to wait and countdown the days until it came out on DVD or a cheap streaming service.
We are grateful for all the years of laughter, love, hugs and kisses.
We know she is back with her life partner and they are both looking down on all of us now.
Marjorie is predeceased by her mother and father; her sister, Elinor Carol Pierce Tonkins Driggs; her son, Matthew Clark; and her partner and best friend, Rodney West. She is survived by her ex-husband, Richard Clark; her daughters, Anna West and Rebekah Clark; son-in-law, Daniel West, sister, Ruth Elizabeth Pierce; grandchildren, Aric Jenkins, Austin Jenkins, Yana Jenkins, Jazmine Robbins, Samantha Clark West, Bethaney Bowie, Miah West, Shaelynn West, Jacob Robbins, Ryan Bowie, Isaiah West, and Jamon West; great-grand children, Julian Quimby, Grayson Quimby, Daniel Bowie, Dominic Bowie, Aria Laquire, Isla Laquire, and 2 additional great-grandbabies; and many nieces and nephews.
