Mary (Nelson) Colby

Newport, NH: Mary Colby, age 88, passed away following a brief illness on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the New London Hospital. She was born March 7, 1936 to the late Stanley and Doris Nelson. Mary is predeceased by her sister Evelyn of Frankfort, Maine, and her brother Joseph Nelson of Goffstown.

Mary enjoyed many hobbies. She had an incredible green thumb and could grow just about anything in her beautiful flower gardens over the years. She liked to listen to Country music, spent many hours assembling puzzles and doing word puzzles. She was a devoted Red Sox and Patriots fan. She attended Weare schools where she was born and raised, and later in life moved to Newport. She was employed by various businesses over the years and is remembered for being a Crossing Guard at the Newport school.

Mary is survived by her sons Robert Ingalls (wife Susan) of Newport, Randy Nelson (wife Lisa) of Newport, Carl Ingalls (wife Mary) of Claremont, Donald Colby (predeceased wife Cindy) of Newport; daughters Cheryl Benson (husband Kevin) of Newport, Sandra Stevens (predeceased husband Mike) of Newport, Donna Gagner (husband Brian) of Newport, Carol Lamery (husband Rob) of Newport. She has 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

She is also survived by brothers Stanley Nelson (wife Sharol) of Bloomfield, Ontario, Canada, David Nelson (wife Jessica) of Weare, Thomas Nelson (wife Deborah) of Hillsborough, John Nelson (wife Tammy) of Weare, Rick (wife Linda) of Newport. Sisters Gladys Boldrighini (husband Mark) of Littleton, MA, and Lois Cash of Manchester.

Friends may call on the family Saturday March 23, 2024, from 1:00 pm- 3:00 pm at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St., Newport, NH. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
