Mary F. (Whidden) Merrill

Newport, NH: Mary F. Merrill, 58, passed away at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on February 5, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on July 23, 1963 in Boston, MA to the late John and Barbara (Silveria) Whidden. 

 

Mary grew up in the Boston area and moved to Newport almost 3 years ago.  She worked at Marriott for many years where she met her husband, Robert W. Merrill, Sr.  The two spent over 37 wonderful years together. 

 

Mary enjoyed playing bingo, candy crush, and going gambling at the casino.  She lived for her grandkids and would do anything for them.  She is fondly remembered as Nana Napkins by her grandkids and Auntie Mimi by her nieces and nephews.

 

Mary was predeceased by her parents.  Surviving family members include her loving husband, Robert W. Merrill, Sr. of Newport; son, Robert Merrill, Jr. of Newport; daughter, Renee Devine and her husband, Roy, of Newport; sister, Linda Feliciano and her husband, Lando, of NH; brother, John Whidden of WV; sisters-in-law, Joan Bonupaine and her husband, Bart, and Ruth Ellen Amhar and her husband, Joseph; grandchildren, Robert, Candice, and Caleb Minnick, and Alexcia Fazio; goddaughter, Jacqueline Whidden and her family; and best friend, Pamela Finley and her husband, Taylor; and many extended family members.  She will be missed by all her friends and family. 

 

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1 PM at Lake Sunapee Baptist Church in Newport.
