Mary Beth Donegan Obituary


On April 16, 2022, Mary Beth Donegan passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.  


Mary Beth was born on July 17, 1966 in Jersey City, NJ, daughter of John and the late Anita Donegan.  She grew up in Matawan, New Jersey, graduating from St. John Vianney High School, Holmdel in 1984 and then attending Johnson & Wales University, graduating in 1988.  She remained in New England and after a few moves, settled in Sunapee, New Hampshire, where she met her wonderful husband, Steven J. Swenson.  Mary Beth had a successful career in sales with clients all over Vermont and New Hampshire.  She was also an amazing cook and baker and was famous for her yearly production of blueberry jam and apple liquor.  She treasured her role as an aunt and always made time with her nephew and nieces special. 


Mary Beth is survived by her devoted husband, Steven J. Swenson of Sunapee, NH, her loving father, John Donegan, beloved sisters Kathleen Haakon (Mike), Maggie Spence (Lance) and Kristine O'Hara, adored nephew and nieces, Colin and Lauren Haakon, Kate Lynn and Erin Spence and Meara O'Hara, and cherished step-children, Lindsay and the late Steven Swenson of NH.

Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation for Mary Beth on Thursday April 21, 2022 at Day Funeral Home 361 Maple Place Keyport, New Jersey 07735 from 4PM to 8PM and again  9AM at the funeral home Friday April 22, 2022 for a 10AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Clement's Church of Matawan.

Burial will follow in Saint Rose of Lima Cemetery of Freehold.
