Michael R. Jones

Newport, NH: Michael R. Jones, 41, passed away at his home in Newport on December 26, 2020 from complications of a brain tumor.  He was born on February 28, 1979 in Bridgeport, CT to Barbara (Toothill) Jones and the late John R. Jones.

Mike grew up in Goshen and has lived in the Newport area all his life.  He worked at Sturm-Ruger for almost 20 years and made many good friends there.  He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, kayaking, and going to fairs.  Mike was kind, loving, generous, and had a great sense of humor.  He liked games and movies.  He loved being a Dad and spending time with his wife, daughter, stepdaughter, family, friends, and pets.  He especially loved his time with his daughter, Samantha, and wanted to spend as much time with her as he was able.  She truly was the light of his life.

Mike was predeceased by his father, grandparents, and aunt and uncle, Karen (Jones) Stasko and Ronald Stasko, Sr.

Surviving family members include his loving wife, Sherry (Ploss) Jones of Newport, mother, Barbara Jones of Newport, daughter, Samantha, stepdaughter, Jazmin, brother, John Jones, Jr., sister, Jennifer Jones and her husband, Mike Shemeley of Danbury, NH, nieces and nephews, Cassie, Justis, Bella, Eliot, Cole, and Kendall, in-laws, Karen and Ricky Ploss, brother-in-law, Steve Ploss and his wife, Candy, sister-in-law, Tammy Ploss, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.

Private services will be held in the Spring.
