Michael Rutter Obituary

Michael William Kenneth Rutter (Mike), aged 41 died unexpectedly at his home in Goshen, New Hampshire on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. Mike had recently been diagnosed with pneumonia and he died peacefully in his sleep.

Mike was born on June 6, 1980 in Montreal, Canada.  He moved to Connecticut with his family in 1986 and then again to Texas in 1998. He graduated from Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas in 1999.   After graduation, he attended Heavy Equipment Operator's School in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. In 2002 he moved to the Sunapee area, which he considered to be his home ever since.

Mike loved any work that involved driving machinery. After moving here he worked at Mount Sunapee. He was also employed as manager of Sunapee State Park for several years.  Mike left New Hampshire twice to work as a Manager for CTM, an arcade game company at Six Flags in Texas and later in Massachusetts. He loved working there with the games and the people but his love for this area and his family, friends, dog (Riley) and his truck always pulled him back here. This was truly his home and he was happiest here. Most recently, Mike worked for Piney Point Property Enhancement in Sunapee, New Hampshire. That involved working outside  with machines and people he cared for deeply. At the same time he continued to work with CTM in NH servicing games, and weekends at Mount Sunapee. His dream was to have his own business and he was actively planning to start an arcade game spot in the area with his family's support.

Mike will be greatly missed by his family. He loved his older brother Brock and Nikki (Ward) his sister-in-law. We know that their children Henry, Charlie, and Nico will miss their Uncle Mike. He loved it when his younger brother Colin, who is in the Navy and posted to Whidbey Island, Washington State, came to visit with his wife Abbie (Pare, Claremont) and their son Zakai. He will also be missed by his family and friends in Canada. Mike's Canadian family includes uncles, aunts and cousins from Ontario and Western Canada.

We, his parents (Neil and Suzanne) are devastated by this loss. Mike was a very big part of our daily life. We enjoyed our times together and it was a joy having him around. It will be a long time before this pain is replaced by happy memories. His image and memory will always be there in our hearts. We love you Mike and miss you so much.

The family will have a Celebration of Mike's life on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home in Newport, NH.  A viewing will be held from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM, with Celebration of Life remarks starting at 2:45 PM. All are welcome to attend.
