Priscilla Ann (Nelson) Swensen

Newport, NH: Priscilla Ann Swensen, 78, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2022 at Sullivan County Healthcare in Unity, NH after several years of declining health.  She was born on October 22, 1943 in Claremont, NH to the late Roy and Adeline (Gould) Nelson.

Priscilla grew up in Claremont before moving to Unity and later to Newport.  She married Stephen Swensen and they shared more than 45 years together.  Priscilla worked as a secretary for the Town of Unity.  She also worked at the Unity Country Store.  Priscilla enjoyed canning and making jellies.  She was an excellent knitter and loved knitting all kinds of things to give away to friends and family.  She and her sister, Gloria, were the "knitting sisters."

Priscilla was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Donna Robinson, Gloria Achilles, and Bernice Connor; and brothers, Arthur, Francis, Ai, and Leonard Nelson. 

Surviving family members include her loving husband, Stephen Swensen of Newport; sons, Craig LaClair and his wife, Amanda, of Sunapee, Robert Swensen and his wife, Heather, of Goshen; and daughter, Deborah Ann Swensen of MA; grandchildren, Sierra Melnick and her husband, Eddie White, Robert Swensen, Jr. and his partner, Amanda Bastarache; and great-grandson, Chayce; sister, Eldora Farnsworth; and many extended family members.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday July 12, 2022  from 4-6 PM at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St. Newport.  A funeral service will be held the following day at 10 AM at the funeral home with burial to follow in Eastman Cemetery on North Road in Sunapee.  A reception will follow.
